You can also explore the island through hikes in the heart of the sugar cane fields and natural sites such as Gueule Grand Gouffre. A day trip to Les Saintes is also possible from Marie-Galante.

How to get to Marie-Galante?
From abroad
To reach Marie-Galante from abroad, you must first travel to Guadeloupe (Pointe-à-Pitre):
- Take an international flight from your country (Europe, the Americas, or elsewhere) to Guadeloupe – Pôle Caraïbes Airport (Pointe-à-Pitre). Most routes involve a connection in Paris or in another Caribbean hub.
- Once in Pointe-à-Pitre, you can reach Marie-Galante by ferry or regional flight (see below).
💡 Tip: choose a flight arriving before 3:30 pm so you can catch a ferry connection the same day without stress.
From Guadeloupe
By boat – the most common option
The most common way to reach Marie-Galante from Guadeloupe is by ferry from Pointe-à-Pitre (Bergevin ferry terminal) to the port of Grand-Bourg:
- Crossing time: about 1 hour
- Several daily departures operated by companies such as FRS Express des Îles or Karu’Ferry
Schedules vary depending on the day, but there are generally departures in the morning and afternoon
💡 Tip: it is recommended to book your tickets online in advance, especially during high season or peak times (morning / weekends).
By regional plane – the fastest option
Another option is to take a short flight from Pointe-à-Pitre to Marie-Galante Airport (Les Bases):
Flight time: about 15–20 minutes
Regular air shuttles operated by AIR INTER ILES, run by the airline Saint-Barth Executive
This is an ideal option if you are looking for the fastest transfer.
